Tour de France (May 21st)

The roomies and I decided to go bike riding the Saturday after amfAR. We woke up early to find the bike rental shop. We ended up using Mistral Location and rented bikes for the day. We then rode back to campus to eat brunch before heading out on our adventure.

On our way to Saint Tropez we passed by a very pretty castle and seafront in Mandelieu, so we decided to head there. We thought it would take us a long time, but we ended up reaching the castle in about twenty minutes, so we stopped to take some pictures and continued on our (hilly) way to Théoule-sur-Mer. It was very gorgeous and we took some more pictures. It was really nice to be able to ride our bikes along the coast; everything is just so beautiful.

Once we were done in Théoule-sur-Mer we decided to head to Antibes. We stopped by the collège to fill up our water bottles because it was a hot day and then continued on our way. It was kind of crazy trying to make our way through downtown Cannes during the festival. We ended up having to get off and move over to the road that was the “sidewalk” during the festival and rode our bikes there since it was still early and not too busy.

We ended up making it to Antibes in about 40 minutes by taking the route that followed the coast. It was such a pretty route and I’m really going to miss the sea. I wish we could have biked more, but at least I got to do it once! Once we reached Antibes we locked up our bikes and just walked around for a bit. We got some  yummy ice cream and relaxed on a bench overlooking the sea. We decided to head back after the ice cream though because we agreed that if we sat there any longer we may get too tired to ride our bikes back to Cannes.

On our way back we ended up stopping at the Plage de la Californie to put our feet in the water and relax. We sat there watching the kids play in the water and just took it easy. We stayed there for about thirty minutes before returning our bikes and heading back to the collège.

We ended up biking over 26 miles and had an awesome time. I was definitely a little sore from it all, but it was worth it!
